3 Tips for Avoiding Amazon Account Suspension
Getting your Amazon account suspended is not something that you want to happen. It could be the result of a number of different things, like failing to adhere to their policies or selling counterfeit goods. In this blog post we will discuss 3 tips for avoiding having your account suspended in order to protect your business!
In the next article we'll discuss what you can do to get your account back if it's been suspended but first let's talk about avoiding that altogether. Sometimes it seems like you could be an upstanding Amazon seller but there's things that sometimes fly under the radar that affect your ability to sell. These 3 things are:
- Compliance with Amazon's Product Policy
- Customer Performance feedback
- Following Amazon's Selling Policy and Code of Conduct
Compliance with Amazon's Product Policy
You want to make sure your product itself isn't violating any major rules indicated in Amazon's Product Policy. Amazon has a strict hold against products infringing on copyrights or including explicit content. To make it easier, make sure your products don't go against any of the following. If they do it could result in a suspension:
- IP violations
- Product authenticity claims
- Listing policy violations
- Product condition claims
- Restricted product policy violations
- Product safety claims
- Customer product review policy violations
Customer Performance Feedback
You could have a clean product that follows all the rules but this falls under how your relationship with your buyers is. Anything from your shipping performance to your customer reviews. Too many negative reviews or chargebacks and Amazon will not hesitate to suspend your account. Amazon wants to make sure they're sellers are doing what they can't to provide a good service from beginning to end. If this means improving your product and shipping times then you must do so. Amazon wants to make sure their sellers are also shipping out on time so you need to keep your Late Shipment Rate below 4% and your Pre-fulfillment Cancellation Rate below 2.5% in order to maintain strong shipping performance.
Following Amazon's Selling Policy and Code of Conduct
This is pretty straight forward, follow the rules! Its best you learn of Amazons Code of Conduct straight from the source so here you go: Selling Policies and Seller Code of Conduct - Amazon Seller Central
My advice is to listen to that little voice in your head that's telling you that you may or may not be crossing the line. If you're stuck in the middle of if what you're doing is in compliance or not, do your research. And if you don't have your answer after that, then it's probably best you be safe and not act upon it until you have a concrete answer.
In our next article we'll talk about what you can do if your account has been suspended but for now continue following the rules and making some sales!
